Artists Profile: Trevor P. Warne
“Cockerels”; I know what you’re thinking…Why? What is it about cockerels that inspire me as an artist? The truth probably stems from my early childhood growing up on ‘the farm’, a pretty little picturesque home set within the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds. Here I spent many a happy-a-day with my family rearing champion Bamptons and prize winning canaries; so much so that it was these days which formed the basis of my inspirations.
I later went on to study Art and Design at the University of Gloucestershire, gaining a reputable BA Honours degree. I try and employ my own ‘style’ to my art, painting vibrantly coloured masterpieces with a real freedom and passion, often not using a brush but using a rag technique which I myself devised. My trade secret is to mix olive oil with my oil paints giving the paintings that extra richness and depth.
I draw my influences from many quarters; my upbringing at home on the farm, inspiration from tutors and piers at college. I employ my use of colour and flair from the Post Impressionist techniques and from time sent travelling the world being enriched by many cultures.
To date, I have successfully exhibited in art fairs and public exhibitions in Cheltenham and display a wide range of works in cafés and restaurants within the town, proudly boasting an ever growing list of collectors to my name. My works are ideally suited to hang in the kitchen or a restaurant, but they will bring any room alive with their rustic bright colours and form.
